Stuart Kettlewell, manager of Motherwell, has characterized the decision to issue a red card to Dan Casey during their 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock on Friday night as “the worst” refereeing he has ever witnessed. Following Casey’s dismissal at the weekend, the Fir Park club has lodged a wrongful dismissal claim with the Scottish FA. The appeal hearing is scheduled for Christmas Eve. The defender received a straight red card subsequent to an altercation with Killie’s Danny Armstrong. Referee Chris Graham maintained his initial ruling, even after being recommended to review the incident on the pitchside monitor. Kettlewell stated, “I’ve not spoken to one individual that sees that the same way as the outcome.” He added, “I don’t think we can ever see that, that scenario where it’s so cut and dry, in my opinion, and I know there’s an appeal to be heard and all the rest of it, but I just find it baffling.” He concluded his remarks on the incident by saying, “It’s genuinely the worst one that I’ve seen.” Kettlewell further commented on the broader implications, stating, “But we have to look at this bigger picture as well, and it’s worldwide. That game was on the television. We’re trying to give the best account of ourselves as we possibly can.” He also remarked, “We didn’t play particularly well as a team, but I don’t think that type of decision does the game in this country any favours whatsoever.” Post navigation Ben Stokes Requires Surgery for Torn Hamstring, Sidelined for Three Months Darren Murphy’s Boxing Day Irish Premiership Forecasts
