Mother to Participate in Third Santa Dash in Liverpool, Honoring Daughter

A mother is set to participate in her third Santa Dash event in Liverpool, commemorating her daughter who passed away in 2021. Rachel Marnell, a resident of Walton, will undertake the 5km (3.1 mile) Santa Dash on 1 December. Her participation serves as a tribute to her daughter, Phoebe, who died in 2021, and aims to generate funds for this year’s designated charity, Claire House Children’s Hospice. “Thanks to the Butterfly Team at Claire House we were able to spend the most precious time with Phe that we will cherish forever,” she stated. Ms Marnell conveyed that her family would have been “lost without the continued support of Claire House” and characterized the organization as “angels without wings.” The event is anticipated to draw 8,000 individuals, all dressed in Santa costumes, running to collect donations for the hospice. To date, the initiative has successfully raised £17,500 for the charity. Debby Lofthouse, an event fundraiser, commented: “We are the local children’s hospice for Liverpool and beyond, caring for babies, children and young adults in the surrounding communities.” She added, “We provide end-of-life care, emergency care, respite and (we) support the entire family.“By fundraising for Claire House in the Liverpool Santa Dash, our care team will be able to be there for more local parents like Rachel.”” Born to Run Liverpool has announced that online registration is now closed; however, prospective participants have until Saturday to register in person at St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool.
