Mother of Five-Year-Old Son Charged with Murder Appears in Court

Claire Button, 35, of Windstar Drive, has made her initial court appearance following charges for the murder of her five-year-old son. Lincoln Button passed away on 15 December at an address located on Windstar Drive in South Ockendon, Essex. Ms. Button appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court, where she spoke solely to confirm her identity. She has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for a subsequent appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, participating via video link. Essex Police reported that on the Sunday Lincoln was discovered, their initial response was to calls expressing serious concerns for the welfare of a child and a woman. The police force also stated that its officers worked in conjunction with paramedics in an attempt to save the boy’s life. A woman was transported to a hospital for treatment and was arrested once her condition had improved.
