Northampton Town midfielder Mitch Pinnock, whose recent goal marked his 24th for the club, stated that wearing his ‘lucky shinpads’ was crucial to ending his goalscoring drought for the current season. The 29-year-old scored the final goal in Saturday’s 3-0 victory against Crawley Town, having not found the net in his 13 prior appearances this season. This achievement concluded a successful week for the Cobblers, who secured seven points from a possible nine across three matches. “I was pleased to score. It’s been a while for me – I had my lucky shinpads on,” Pinnock informed BBC Radio Northampton. He added, “I’ve worn them for the last couple of seasons but couldn’t find them until this morning – that’s what was missing the whole time, I think.” He further elaborated on their absence, stating, “(They’d been missing) Since the start of the season, I just wore them again today, so it’s got to be them.” Pinnock, who has participated in 148 league matches for Northampton since his arrival in 2021, also contributed to the second goal. His corner kick was deflected into the net by Crawley defender Jay Williams, resulting in an own goal. Jon Brady’s team is scheduled to play again on Tuesday in an away fixture against Lincoln. Following this, they will compete against Kettering Town in an FA Cup derby at Sixfields next weekend. Pinnock commented, “We’ve had loads of games so we need the whole squad to chip in and see if we can carry on this form that we’ve picked up in the last couple of games.” He also expressed his personal desire, stating, “I want to play every single match, whether it’s the cup or whatever, I want to be out there playing.” Manager Brady indicated that the recent improvement in results alleviated any worries he had regarding the team’s ability to manage a demanding schedule. He remarked, “You find some purple patches and long may that continue.” Regarding their upcoming opponent, he added, “Lincoln is probably as tough as it comes in the league. Their home record since we last played there has been exemplary, but we’re in a good rhythm so let’s face it head on.” Post navigation Graham Carey Urges St Johnstone to ‘Win Ugly’ – Gossip Report Nelson Jardim Credits Summer Overhaul for Newport County’s Defensive Improvement
