A road marking displaying “Ceep Klear” near a school has been repainted following its identification by local residents. This incorrect spelling of the standard “Keep Clear” directive was observed on a recently repaired segment of Watermoor Road in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Photographs of the marking, located close to Paternoster School, garnered hundreds of comments across social media platforms on Thursday. The marking has since been reapplied, and a representative for Wales and West Utilities, the company responsible for the task, confirmed that the markings now feature “the full and correct spelling”. Initial speculation on social media had attributed responsibility to Gloucestershire County Council, given its role in managing the road network. However, the council clarified that Wales and West Utilities had conducted the work and subsequent repatching. The utility firm stated that this “fix” was integral to their ongoing project to enhance the gas network. A spokesperson for the utility company explained: “Contractors working on our behalf have been to the site to reinstate the road surface but unfortunately, when replacing the road markings they have misspelt the wording on the tarmac.” The spokesperson further added: “As soon as we were made aware, we contacted the contractors to request that they return to the site and rectify this as quickly as possible.” They concluded by stating: “The team have now replaced the markings with the full and correct spelling.” Post navigation Report: Over 3,000 Vehicles Speed Daily Through North East Lincolnshire Village Man Dies Following Motorcycle-Car Crash in Wiltshire
