The revitalization of a town center has advanced significantly due to a £2 million investment provided by the office of Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram. This financial contribution is integrated into the broader £163 million Huyton Village project, which is designed to bring numerous economic and social advantages to Huyton, Merseyside, and the surrounding Knowsley region. The initiative seeks to revitalize the town center by incorporating a diverse range of leisure, retail, residential, and office facilities. Rotheram stated that the investment is intended to “create homes, green spaces, and better facilities that will bring jobs and businesses back into the town centre”. The initial stage of the project will prioritize the development of 72 affordable residences, a 130-bed hotel, and commercial office premises, in addition to a community hub and a library. These proposals involve the demolition of existing council structures, which will make available nearly seven acres of land for subsequent development, as reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service. This initiative is projected to contribute £62 million to the local economy and is designed for ongoing evolution, according to statements from the metro mayor’s office. The office also confirmed subsequent phases, which will include additional commercial space and 300 new residential units. The £2 million allocated by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is designated to fund the acquisition and renovation of properties situated on Cavendish Walk. Additionally, there are plans to establish temporary office facilities for council employees who will be relocated. This action will facilitate the construction of a contemporary “village green” and an energy-efficient office complex, encompassing the seven-storey Huyton Municipal Building. Graham Morgan, who is the leader of Knowsley Council and a member of the Labour party, commented: “This is a huge step in our plans to deliver lasting economic and social benefits to Huyton and the wider region.” Post navigation Approval granted for apartment development at former social club site Chatham Docks Business Hub Development Receives Final Approval
