Labour Member of Parliament Chris Webb recounted an incident in London where he was robbed by a group that took his mobile phone. The representative for Blackpool South stated on X that the assault occurred around 22:00 GMT on Monday night as he was making his way back to his flat in the capital from parliament, along Lambeth Walk. Mr. Webb, the Labour MP, noted that despite being a “big guy” at 6ft 2in and “not an easy target,” a “stealthy” group on bikes, wearing balaclavas, succeeded in surprising him. He stated, “Luckily I have no injuries and I am ok.” Downing Street conveyed that Sir Keir Starmer extended his thoughts to Mr. Webb. A spokesperson for the prime minister commented on a concerning increase in incidents involving the snatching of bags and phones, emphasizing the need for further action. Mr. Webb detailed the robbery: “I was walking to the shop. I was on the phone to my wife. “I then literally said I think I jinxed myself, that I better get off my phone. I don’t know this area and it’s a bit dark.”Got to the shop, said that and, as I’m walking away, went to reach into my pocket to get my phone to phone my wife back, and that’s when they grab me.”They grab my arm to stop me and then off they went,” he said. He further mentioned that the group quickly escaped on their bikes. Webb recounted that he subsequently locked his iPhone via his smartwatch, and upon the arrival of the police, he assisted them in tracing the device to a location where a suspect was apprehended with a bag containing multiple phones and placed under arrest. Nevertheless, the MP’s specific phone was not retrieved. He also stated: “I wasn’t on the phone at the time and I didn’t hear them, which is remarkable in itself, of how stealthy they are, because these are on bikes,” he added. He continued: “So the fact that, you know, and I’m normally pretty aware of my surroundings, I’ve got pretty decent reflexes and things like that from training and boxing training.”And I’m just surprised, because if I grabbed hold of one of them, they would have gone flying on the bike, because I wouldn’t have let go. So I’m kind of surprised how they managed to get so close to me without me realising.” He mentioned that his initial reaction was to pursue the individuals, but he promptly understood that he should instead focus on tracking and locking the phone and contacting the police. He further commented, “I don’t think I was targeted as an MP.”He added, “While I was in a suit and shirt and tie, they would not have known I was a member of parliament.” He expressed that the police provided assistance that went “above and beyond.” The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers received a call at 21:55 GMT on Monday. The force stated, “The victim was approached by a group of men who stole his phone from his hand. Inquiries remain ongoing.” Post navigation Teenager Sustains Serious Injuries in Anlaby Attack, Mother States Son Nearly Died Family Expresses Deep Concern Over Man Missing in Benidorm
