A new award could honor children in Medway who have overcome a challenge, accomplished something extraordinary, or positively impacted their community. The council has launched its Medway Young Citizens Award to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of young people residing in the area. This new initiative is designed for children aged between seven and 11 who either live in Medway or attend school there. Child-friendly Medway, a division of the council, encouraged individuals to submit their nominations starting from 1 November. Anyone is eligible to nominate a young person, and self-nomination is also permitted. Each recipient will be presented with a personalized certificate. Councillor Adam Price, portfolio holder for children’s services, remarked: “This is a brilliant initiative to celebrate our young people.” The scheme is founded on the core themes of Child-friendly Medway, which are determined by children. These themes include being community focused, aspirational, and creative.
