A specialized transport carrying an MRI machine and a CT scanner, intended for a community hospital project, is scheduled to be escorted across Surrey this Saturday. According to Surrey Police, these items, destined for Woking Community Hospital, necessitate a police escort because of their considerable widths. The police force indicated its intention to reduce traffic interruptions as much as possible, though members of the public are encouraged to allocate additional time for their travels. Brief, localized delays, particularly in the vicinity of the hospital, are anticipated during the early afternoon. Surrey Police will accompany the cargo starting from a designated holding area at approximately 09:00 GMT. The route involves exiting the M3 at junction four, then continuing along the A331, A31, and A3. The convoy will then depart the A3 at Ripley, heading south on the A3, before connecting with the A320 to reach its ultimate destination, Woking Community Hospital. The one-way traffic system in Woking will be paused temporarily to facilitate the safe passage of the loads through the urban area. Essential services will retain necessary access to the location. The hospital has also arranged alternative parking solutions for patients and visitors requiring entry to the premises throughout the day. Follow BBC Surrey on Facebook, and on X.
