Glenavon manager Paddy McLaughlin achieved his inaugural league victory, expressing that he was “delighted with the response of his players” following their 3-1 triumph over Crusaders. The win came after Glenavon overcame a 1-0 deficit in Tuesday’s Irish Premiership fixture held at Mourneview Park. Crusaders initially took the lead through a goal from Philip Lowry, but Michael O’Connor equalized prior to halftime. Subsequently, Peter Campbell’s goal and an own goal by Jordan Forsythe secured a crucial three points for the Lurgan Blues. Speaking to BBC Sport NI, McLaughlin stated, “”Delighted to get points on the board, especially against a good side like Crusaders.” He added, “When you go a goal down sometimes you can go under against a side like that. But delighted with our response, getting a goal just before half-time gave us confidence and put us on the front foot again. “When we did come out again we got into gear fairly quickly. So full credit to our boys, they were excellent, especially in the second half.”” McLaughlin commended his team’s performance in both defensive and offensive aspects, noting their particular effectiveness during the second 45 minutes when playing conditions improved. He elaborated, “”The conditions probably spoiled the game as a football match in the first half but the second half, with the wind at our backs, we moved the ball a lot quicker and created chances. Every time we went forward we almost scored.” McLaughlin further commented, “Our workrate off the ball was fantastic. Our shape and our organisation was really, really good. “We didn’t give them many chances outside of the goal so we have to defend like that, we have to work as hard as that.”The way we attacked in the second half was excellent. You have to bring that to the table every game.”” Post navigation Manchester United Negotiating for Diego Leon Fan Reactions to Tottenham’s 2-1 EFL Cup Victory Over Manchester City
