Scotland international centre Matt Currie has committed to a new two-year agreement with Edinburgh, expressing his belief that remaining with the club will contribute to his development as a player. The 23-year-old, who is approaching 50 appearances for Edinburgh, was recognized as the club’s breakout player of the year during the previous season and has been in the starting lineup for six of eight matches this current term. Currie earned the first of his four Scotland caps when he played against Canada in the summer of the Americas. “I’m really excited about staying on for the next two years,” he said.”Edinburgh is a great place for me to be in terms of honing my skills and trying to improve as a player. We have some class centres here and there’s some brilliant centres in Scotland right now.”It’s a very competitive place but I think, if I can keep working on my own game in Edinburgh, I can hopefully push for more international caps in the future.” Head coach Sean Everitt commended Currie’s versatility, describing him as “talented and hard-working,” and stated that he “has the potential to become one of the best centres in the country.” Post navigation The Premier League: An Unprecedentedly Tight Race Pack: Portsmouth Players ‘Tried Too Hard’ During Winless Start
