An NHS trust has acknowledged a maternity support worker for her exceptional contributions to its Midwifery Education Team. Raynah Hinson, employed at Peterborough City Hospital, was part of the initial group of maternity support workers who began their roles in 2009. Over the subsequent years, her work has encompassed the delivery suite, community services, triage, and combined antenatal and postnatal wards, where she has assisted thousands of patients. Ms. Hinson expressed feeling “honoured” upon receiving a significant award from the chief midwifery officer of North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. Maternity support workers play a central role in local communities, positively impacting the lives of the patients they assist and providing support to their nursing and midwifery colleagues. According to the trust, this recognition highlights the crucial function these workers perform within the healthcare workforce. Ms. Hinson stated, “I come to work to do a job that I love.” She added, “It has been so heartwarming to receive this award. I thought when I received the email it was a mistake until a colleague confirmed it was actually for me.” Ms. Hinson further commented, “I am honoured to be valued by my colleagues but also to be a part of such a special time in any family’s lives.” Gill Quinn, the lead midwife for education, remarked, “Raynah’s passion for maternity care and the pride she takes in her role, is evident in everything she does.” Quinn continued, “She was nominated by another of our staff members, Ellie Walsh, and is a huge support to her colleagues.” She concluded, “Raynah always encourages and empowers others to give the best care to our patients. We are incredibly proud of her and she is highly deserving of this award.” Post navigation Senior NHS Doctor Feared Hospital Overload During Pandemic’s Initial Phase Plans Advance for Replacement of Fire-Destroyed Surrey Hospital
