Scotland’s head coach, Pedro Martinez Losa, has stated that his team “are ready to go” in the top tier of the 2025 Nations League, despite characterizing their group as the “second most difficult”. This return to League A follows Scotland’s unbeaten Euro qualifying campaign earlier this year. In 2023, the team finished at the bottom of Group A1, having recorded two draws against Belgium and suffered defeats both at home and away to England and the Netherlands. Martinez Losa’s squad is scheduled to compete against the Netherlands again, along with Germany and Austria, with the group stage set to run from February to early June. Speaking to BBC Scotland, the head coach expressed his satisfaction, saying, “We’re very pleased to come back to League A.” He further elaborated on the draw, stating, “Teams like Netherlands you always in theory want to avoid, but at the end you have to play against some of them.” Martinez Losa assessed the group’s difficulty, adding, “I don’t think we got the worst – the most difficult group has England and Spain – but probably the second most difficult.” Regarding their opponents, he commented, “In terms of having to compete against Germany and Netherlands, we already know them well and also Austria is a very competitive team, so I’m excited in one part.” He concluded by emphasizing the team’s readiness and approach: “We’re ready to go and celebrate the women’s game with the fans and challenge ourselves, which is what it is about, but also respecting the opponent and thinking that it’s going to be difficult for us. But we will be prepared.”
