Pedro Martinez Losa conveyed his confidence, excitement, and strong belief that his players will achieve their objective in Finland tomorrow, securing qualification for next summer’s European Championships. The Scottish team faces a decisive match in Helsinki following a goalless draw in Friday’s initial leg. Nevertheless, the head coach is confident that his squad will present “better solutions” to the challenges posed by their hosts, attributing this to their “strong mentality.” Speaking to BBC Scotland, the Spaniard affirmed, “I’m confident and excited,” adding, “I believe in my team. I believe this team is capable.” He further elaborated, “We have individuals who are capable of helping us in the key moments, but we also have a strong mentality in the squad that will keep us emotionally stable and compete at the highest level.” Scotland has not qualified for a major tournament in six years, and it was against Finland that their aspirations of reaching the 2022 Euros were previously thwarted. Martinez Losa acknowledged that “both sides know each other well,” suggesting this familiarity might have contributed to Friday’s “not pretty game.” Despite this, he expressed confidence that his team’s performance will coalesce effectively on Tuesday. He further commented, “We always want to do it at the best level for all our fans, 100%, but I hope everybody understands the scenario is not as simple as that.” He also remarked, “I understand it was not a pretty game that we wanted to play, we all dream to play or we were planning to play but I am pretty sure we are going to improve from that game.”
