Following Manchester City’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool on Sunday, supporters were invited to provide their perspectives. A selection of their comments is presented below: Scott: Second best in every area of the pitch. The scoreline flatters the City performance. The aggressive press and the speed with which we once regained lost possession are now memories. Creativity has been replaced with predictability, solidity with fragility, and energy with lethargy. We keep our faith in Pep, we regroup, and we go again in midweek. David: We look better than we did against Spurs, but we seem very fragile at the back. We need a couple of changes, I think Walker perhaps needs a rest. We can and will come back. Let’s make it hard for everyone. John: City have lost their way. I’ve been a Blue for nearly 60 years and I really think that now people have worked out exactly how to play against us. The build up is way too slow, there is no creativity in midfield, the defenders are getting slower and the team in general are all struggling with confidence. It’s time for a complete rebuild without Pep. Pat: I couldn’t understand the starting line-up – it is easy to see that the Liverpool’s full-backs are their weak link and they can struggle against pace. So, start Doku and Savinho. KDB is our most creative player and capable of defence splitting passes – Haaland is the best in the world at accelerating between central defenders. So, start KDB. Stella: City’s failure to refresh an ageing squad was so obvious against Liverpool, as was the fact that Pep needs to reinvent how we play. The predictability was there last year – teams rumbled us but we dragged ourselves over the line. Not this season. We need two proper full backs, two pacey midfielders and another striker. All young but beginning to prove themselves. Billy: City looked out of ideas – playing the ball around at the back with no urgency or idea of how to progress the game. Definite lack of leaders on the pitch who could take the game by the scruff of the neck.
