Manager Tony Vance has lauded Matt Loaring’s “incredible” contribution to Guernsey FC, following the midfielder’s 400th game for the team. As a young player, Loaring underwent trials with Watford, Leeds United, and Grimsby Town. Loaring’s initial appearance for the club occurred in August 2011, during Guernsey’s third competitive match ever. His total of 105 goals for the club is surpassed solely by Ross Allen, the record goalscorer. The midfielder achieved this significant milestone on Saturday, during Guernsey’s 2-1 defeat against Hayes and Yeading United. Speaking to BBC Radio Guernsey, Vance stated, “His contribution is just incredible.” He further emphasized the significance of the achievement, saying, “400 games first and foremost at any level is huge.” Vance also acknowledged the personal sacrifices involved, noting, “But at this level when you have to travel and you have to give up an awful lot of your life, and that includes his family and his work.” He added, “They’ve been very supportive along the way as well, so they mustn’t be forgotten in this.” Vance continued, highlighting Loaring’s sustained performance: “The thing about him is he’s still going strong – his numbers and contributions in terms of assists, goals, pre-assists, building play, but also the distance he travels, the speed – he’s right up there in and top of the pile, and that’s incredible.” He also praised Loaring’s resilience and adaptability, remarking, “For anyone who wants a piece of the pie they’ve only got to look at Matt Loaring because he’s had to reinvent herself a number of times positionally, but also hang in there, been left out, kept coming back, and huge respect to him for that.” Guernsey FC initially led 1-0 against Hayes and Yeading but ultimately succumbed to a 2-1 defeat. This loss maintains Guernsey’s position in the bottom two of the Isthmian League South Central, leaving them five points shy of exiting the relegation zone. So far this season, the team has recorded one victory and three draws across 13 matches. Despite the team’s current poor form, Vance expressed confidence that their results would improve, citing his satisfaction with much of their performance. “We’re doing really well, we’re close,” he stated. He attributed the recent loss to specific mistakes, explaining, “The difference between the two teams was we made two poor errors, which cost us unfortunately.” Vance believes the potential for improvement is evident: “We pinned a good team back, and the signs are there, we’ve got to get those final pieces of the jigsaw.” He identified key areas for development: “One’s about conceding silly goals and the other is taking our opportunities.” He further elaborated on their offensive efforts: “We had a lot of entries into their box and lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’, but not quite over the line.” Concluding, Vance affirmed, “Our general play is good and we’ve got to stick to the process and keep going.” Post navigation St Johnstone’s Premiership Loss Draws Fan Criticism Wolves Announce Dismissal of Head Coach Gary O’Neil
