An individual convicted of abusing a vulnerable teenager has received a 10-year prison sentence. Justin Burton, 48, committed rape and sexual assault against his victim in Nottinghamshire during June. Law enforcement officials reported that Burton was apprehended the day following the offenses, subsequent to the victim reporting the incident. During proceedings at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, Burton, whose address was not fixed, received a prison sentence, a restraining order, and notification that he would be added to the sex offenders register. Burton initially pleaded not guilty to the charges; however, following a trial, he was convicted on 11 December of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault. Detective Constable Harry Cooper commented: “The victim has shown incredible strength since their ordeal and played a central role in helping put Burton in prison for his despicable crimes.” He further expressed: “While I know nothing will ever make up for what happened, I sincerely hope that the fact Burton will now spend a lengthy period behind bars will provide both them and their family with some small degree of comfort.” Individuals can connect with BBC Nottingham on Facebook, X, or Instagram.
