Azeem Hussain, a 26-year-old Walsall resident, has received an eight-year prison sentence for his involvement in a shooting incident targeting a Smethwick business. Hussain previously pleaded guilty to firearms offences during a hearing at Worcester Crown Court. According to West Midlands Police, five additional men from Walsall have already been incarcerated following the premeditated armed assault, which resulted in injuries to two men in their 40s. Following Thursday’s hearing, law enforcement officials stated that Hussain played a pivotal role in the operation. Detective Inspector Francis Nock commented: “This could have easily been a fatal attack but miraculously, the injuries of the two victims were not serious.“Weapons have no place on our streets and we will continue to bring those to justice who think it’s acceptable to use them.” Authorities reported that the group targeted City Computers, located on Bertram Road, on January 12. A Ford Fiesta reportedly stopped outside the premises before the assailants launched their attack. Two individuals were armed with an axe, while two others possessed a shotgun. Officers confirmed that shots were discharged at the establishment, and its windows and doors were shattered. One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, and the other suffered a neck injury. Police indicated that Hussain departed the country shortly after the event but was apprehended upon his return to the UK in April of the current year.
