An individual has been incarcerated after stabbing his former partner, uttering the words “if I can’t have you, no-one can” during the assault. Andrew Fowler, aged 35, residing on Ridsdale Street in Darlington, received a 17-year prison sentence for attempted murder. This sentencing followed an assault he committed against Anastasia Wade in June 2023. Ms. Wade, who was 30 years old, passed away in September of the current year. Durham Police stated that her death was not considered suspicious. Her family described her as “brave, intelligent, funny and loved by many”. Ms. Wade is survived by a daughter and two sisters, Lucy and Georgina, who expressed that they were “devastated”. A statement released by her family conveyed: “Although the crime is attempted murder, it’s important to remember a young life has been lost. “At 30 years old she had the rest of her life ahead of her.” According to Durham Police, Fowler inflicted approximately 35 stab wounds upon Ms. Wade’s arms, back, and neck, following her declaration that she no longer wished to continue their relationship. The assault took place at a residence on Ridsdale Street, Darlington, on June 8, 2023. Officers reported that Ms. Wade escaped from the backyard into an alleyway situated behind the dwelling, where she cried out for assistance from individuals passing by. Fowler’s sentencing occurred at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday. Detective Superintendent Lee Blakelock commented that Ms. Wade exhibited “immense strength and courage” during the entirety of the police investigation. He further stated: “It is important for her family that we remember her and the person she was, not Fowler, who subjected her to such a horrific attack.” Post navigation Arrests Made Following ‘Large-Scale Disorder’ in Central Swindon Court Hears Victim Urged Attacker to Stop Before Fatal Blow
