Kirk Davies, a 22-year-old resident of Middle Way in Croxeth, Liverpool, has been imprisoned following the discovery of a loaded firearm and ammunition, bearing his DNA, concealed within a garden, according to police reports. Davies confessed to charges of possessing a prohibited weapon and holding ammunition without the required certificate. Officers from Merseyside Police stated that their investigation into reports of a stolen motorbike on May 23 led to the unearthing of the loaded pistol and ammunition in a rear garden situated on Westhead Avenue, Kirkby. Davies received a five-year prison sentence at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday. Det Ch Insp Phil Atkinson commented: “I hope the sentencing of Davies serves as a deterrent for anyone who thinks it’s acceptable to handle or store firearms in our communities.” He added: “We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in serious organised crime and we are determined to remove firearms from our streets.”
