A man has confessed to being responsible for the death of a woman who was hit by a van while crossing a street in Sheffield. Tracey Rimmington, aged 53, passed away at the site of the collision on Prince of Wales Road in Darnall in October 2022. Charles Pickering entered a guilty plea at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Monday to the charge of causing Ms Rimmington’s death through careless or inconsiderate driving. Pickering, 24 years old and residing at Whirlow Croft in Sheffield, is scheduled for sentencing at Sheffield Crown Court on 9 December. According to South Yorkshire Police, who commented at the time of the event, Ms Rimmington was struck by a Volkswagen Caddy van as it proceeded from Darnall in the direction of the Parkway.
