A 32-year-old man faces a life sentence after confessing to the murder of a care worker in Gloucester. Zanele Sibanda, 28, was fatally stabbed during the early hours of 27 August in Tredworth, specifically at the intersection of Paul Street and Tarrington Road. Tanaka Zivania, 32, appeared before Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday via video link from prison, where he admitted guilt to both her murder and the charge of possessing a blade in public. Mr. Zivania, whose address is Dora Walk, Tredworth, is scheduled for sentencing on 14 January at the same court. Following Ms. Sibanda’s death, her friends and colleagues organized a vigil for her at the site of the attack. Her colleague, Sendy Chikanya, informed the BBC that Ms. Sibanda “always had a smile on her face”. Chikanya further stated, “She would call me every single time to ask me ‘Are you okay?’, and that’s how we used to cope with work.” For updates, BBC Gloucestershire can be followed on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
