An individual described as a “prolific, opportunistic and violent offender” has received a prison sentence of four years and eight months. This sentencing follows his involvement in multiple robberies, which targeted vulnerable individuals and young victims. Cameron Jeffrey, aged 21, was apprehended on August 6. Kent Police stated that his arrest occurred after tracking software on a stolen mobile phone directed authorities to his residence, located near Cranbrook Road in Hawkhurst. Jeffrey admitted guilt to several charges of robbery and one charge of possessing a knife in a public place. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to an extra charge of stealing a vehicle that had been advertised for sale from a Cranbrook address. The 21-year-old entered guilty pleas for all accusations at Maidstone Crown Court, where his sentencing took place on Thursday. On July 9, Jeffrey convinced an elderly victim to permit him to take their vehicle for a test drive. The vehicle was subsequently discovered abandoned following a collision. Police reported that on August 4, Jeffrey, accompanied by an associate in a car, approached three teenage boys close to Cranbrook High Street. Both males, whose faces were concealed, threatened the victims with harm and demanded their belongings. A knife was brandished at the face of one of the boys. Later that same evening, an 18-year-old man and his girlfriend were confronted while they were parked near Headcorn Road, Staplehurst. A machete was pressed against the victim’s throat, and he was instructed to surrender his wallet. A police spokesperson stated that the two assailants seemed to depart, but then one of the males returned to confront the victim, shouting that the wallet was missing from the stolen bag. This individual then repeatedly hit the victim’s windscreen with the machete, causing the glass to break. During a police search, Jeffrey was discovered concealed beneath a bed. Subsequent searches resulted in the retrieval of several of the items that had been stolen. Detective Constable Andy Julier, from Kent Police, commented: “He is a prolific, opportunistic and violent offender who thinks nothing of brandishing weapons on our streets and cares even less about the long-lasting impact his cowardly actions will have had on those he targeted.”
