A man has been sentenced to five years in prison after being apprehended with cocaine valued at nearly £2.5 million following a high-speed police pursuit. Dylan Nicol, 24, drove at speeds up to 120mph along the A90 and Kingsway West in Dundee in February while attempting to evade arrest. Officers successfully surrounded his Volkswagen Golf after its tires were deflated by a police “stinger” device, bringing the vehicle to a halt. A total of 13 packages of cocaine were subsequently discovered in the boot. Nicol, a resident of Dundee, admitted guilt to charges of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and dangerous driving. His sentencing occurred at the High Court in Inverness. The Crown Office indicated that he now faces confiscation proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act, aimed at recovering money obtained through illegal activities. Moira Orr, who leads on major crime for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), said: “This was a highly successful prosecution which has removed a large quantity of drugs from our streets and caused significant disruption to the local supply chain. Dylan Nicol will now spend time in prison paying for his crimes thanks to an extensive police operation, working with COPFS, to investigate and disrupt a network of drug supply.”
