An individual who impersonated a young boy to groom a child has been sentenced to a prison term of four years and 10 months. Carl Huxley, aged 38, utilized social media in 2023 to pose as a young boy. He subsequently arranged a meeting with his victim in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, following the exchange of sexual communications. Huxley, whose address is Holgate Mount, Ward Green, Barnsley, was convicted of charges including meeting a child under the age of 16 following sexual grooming and engaging in sexual communication with a child. The sentencing took place at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday. After meeting the victim in Gainsborough, Huxley traveled to Lincoln, where he purchased gifts for them over the course of the day. Subsequently, he reserved a double hotel room; however, authorities were notified before its intended use. Detective Constable Jones of Lincolnshire Police, who was involved in the investigation, characterized Huxley’s conduct as “calculated, intentional and manipulative”. She further stated: “This is wholly unacceptable and wildly inappropriate, showing a complete disregard for his victim’s age and wellbeing, for his own sexual gratification.” “This will not be tolerated in Lincolnshire and this sentence sends a strong message to any would-be criminals that they will be caught and dealt with.” For highlights from Lincolnshire, listeners can access BBC Sounds; the most recent episode of Look North is available for viewing; and suggestions for stories to cover can be submitted here.
