A man has been jailed following a “dangerous” police pursuit where he narrowly avoided other vehicles and members of the public. Christopher Foster was initially stopped by police at a bus stop on the A41 in Rowton, Chester, in March 2023, but then accelerated away at speed. Police subsequently observed the 34-year-old’s silver Vauxhall Astra being driven into the path of oncoming vehicles and mounting a kerb. Foster, of Market Drayton in Shropshire, was sentenced to two years in prison after admitting guilt to dangerous driving, drug driving, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Cheshire Police reported that the vehicle had driven through two different sets of red lights at a time when there was heavy traffic on the roads. He later abandoned the vehicle and was apprehended by officers the same day. The force stated he could have easily injured himself or other members of the public. “It is a miracle that he did not cause a serious collision,” a spokesperson said. Foster was also disqualified from driving for 45 months during the hearing at Chester Crown Court.
