Man imprisoned for threats and assaults against partner and baby

Reece Marshall has been imprisoned after repeatedly assaulting his partner and making threats to kill both her and her baby. According to police, Marshall’s prolonged period of abuse became known when the woman reported him present at her residence in Ripley, Derbyshire, on 16 November 2023, where he was threatening her with a hammer. Previously, the 34-year-old had assaulted her “so brutally” that it resulted in a burst kidney and a broken rib. Marshall received a 15-month prison sentence at Derby Crown Court on Friday, having admitted guilt to charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and harassment causing fear of violence. Marshall, whose address is Herries Road in Sheffield, was also issued a restraining order prohibiting any contact with the woman for a duration of five years. Detective Constable Joseph Collard, from Derbyshire Police, stated: “Marshall’s behaviour towards his partner was simply horrific.” Collard added that Marshall caused her to live in perpetual fear for her own life and that of her infant. “She was controlled and subjected to brutal assaults on more than one occasion, and I hope that following Marshall being jailed that she is now able to begin looking towards the future,” Collard concluded.
