An individual has received a prison sentence for his involvement in the distribution of cocaine and cannabis. During April, a narcotics inquiry uncovered mobile phone communications linked to Indrit Ismailaj, aged 23, who has no fixed address. These messages detailed the distribution of cocaine throughout Suffolk and the recruitment of individuals for delivery tasks. Despite his denial of two accusations, a jury at Ipswich Crown Court, following a six-day trial in October, rendered a guilty verdict after deliberating for two hours. His sentence was four years’ imprisonment, and the court mandated the destruction of his mobile phone along with the confiscation of £6,360. Law enforcement officers intercepted a grey Mercedes GLB on April 29, which was proceeding on the A14’s westbound carriageway in the direction of Felixstowe. The two men inside the vehicle were taken into custody, and a subsequent search of the car revealed a mobile phone. An inspection of this device uncovered communications indicative of participation in drug distribution. Subsequent investigation determined that Ismailaj was conversing about the provision of cocaine in Ipswich, Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds, and additional locations. Suffolk Police stated that these messages contained specifics regarding the recruitment of individuals for drug deliveries and plans for drug resupply. The volume of messages averaged 175 daily. Furthermore, a search conducted at an apartment on College Street, Ipswich, yielded £6,360 in currency and a minor quantity of cannabis. During the court proceedings, the jury listened to nine hours of testimony from expert witnesses. He received a four-year prison sentence for his involvement in cocaine supply, alongside a concurrent nine-month sentence for his role in cannabis supply. Additionally, he received a driving ban for a period of two years and six months. For updates on Suffolk news, access BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
