An individual has been incarcerated for propelling a flaming bin towards police officers during a riot. Christopher Sharp, aged 36, pleaded guilty to violent disorder in Middlesbrough on 4 August. During the incident, he instructed others to “push forward” at police. Cleveland Police reported that Sharp was part of a substantial gathering at the intersection of Ayresome Street and Linthorpe Road, where he participated in pushing a large bin that was subsequently set on fire and moved into the crowd. Sharp, residing on Middlesbrough Road in South Bank, received a sentence of two and a half years’ imprisonment from Teesside Crown Court.
