Abdul Hamed, 35, who has no fixed address, has been imprisoned after twice raping a woman in Swindon. The incident occurred in the early hours of 18 June, when Hamed entered her home by climbing through a window, while her children were present. The assault was described as a “horrendous ordeal.” DC Ashleigh Moran of Swindon Police stated, “Hamed entered her home through a window in the middle of the night, significantly breaching her sense of safety and privacy in the one place that she should have felt safest.” At Swindon Crown Court, Hamed received a sentence of six years and eight months in prison. DC Moran further commented, “This was a traumatic incident for the victim and I want to thank her and commend her for her incredible bravery that she’s shown throughout this process.” Police were notified of the incident the day after its occurrence, leading to Hamed’s arrest. He entered a plea of not guilty to the charges but was unanimously convicted after a six-day jury trial. DC Moran also stated, “He has shown no remorse throughout this investigation and now faces several years behind bars for his actions.” She concluded, “I hope this sentencing will bring an element of closure for the victim and she can start to move forward with her life.” Follow BBC Wiltshire on Facebook, X and Instagram.
