The identity of a cyclist who passed away following a collision with a lorry in north Belfast on Thursday has been confirmed as Gary McMahon. Authorities were alerted to the occurrence just prior to 07:50 GMT. The incident took place within the Clifton Street vicinity. Inspector Cherith Adair of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PNSI) stated that Mr. McMahon, aged 58, “sadly passed away at the scene as a result of his injuries.” Subsequent to the collision, both the on and off-ramps of the Westlink, along with Clifton Street between Carlisle Circus and North Queen Street, were shut down; however, these routes have since become accessible again. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service reported that two emergency response teams were deployed, accompanied by a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service crew traveling by car. The PSNI is requesting that anyone possessing relevant information or dash-camera footage contact them. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
