An individual has received a suspended prison sentence for assaulting a police officer during civil unrest in Stoke-on-Trent this past summer, occurring amidst significant disturbances across other parts of the UK. Lee Bodman, aged 52, residing in the Hanley area of the city, was handed an eight-month sentence, which was suspended for 18 months, at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday. The widespread unrest throughout the UK originated following fatal stabbings in Southport and the subsequent dissemination of inaccurate online rumours concerning the suspect. Bodman, who faced charges of assault of an emergency worker by beating, was mandated to participate in rehabilitation activities and instructed to pay £100 in compensation to the police officer, in addition to £250 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
