National Highways announced on X just after 10:00 GMT that the thoroughfare was shut in the clockwise direction between junction three, which serves Swanley, and junction four, leading to Orpington. Kent Police confirmed: “A man aged in his 50s was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
