An assault in Finglas, Dublin, during the early hours of Tuesday morning has resulted in a man’s death. BBC News NI has learned that gardaí (Irish police) are investigating the incident as a murder. Emergency services and gardaí were dispatched to Dunsink Green, outside a residence, following reports of an assault just prior to 00:30 GMT. The victim, a man in his 60s, received medical attention at the location of the incident before being transported to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he was later declared deceased. Law enforcement personnel stayed at the site throughout Tuesday morning to conduct a forensic examination. In an official statement, gardaí confirmed that the coroner has been informed, and both the Garda Technical Bureau and the Office of the State Pathologist have been asked to provide support for the ongoing inquiry. The statement further indicated that a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place. Gardaí are urging anyone who might have witnessed the event or possesses video footage from the vicinity to come forward and contact them.
