A male individual is currently hospitalized in Bath, described as being in a critical yet stable state, following a stabbing incident. Avon and Somerset Police responded to an emergency call at approximately 02:55 GMT on Terrace Walk, prompted by reports of a man sustaining multiple stab wounds. The injured party, having received initial medical assistance from both police officers and members of the public, was subsequently transported to a medical facility. He continues to receive treatment there for injuries believed to be life-altering. An 18-year-old individual has been apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 19-year-old has been taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both individuals are being held by the police as investigations proceed. Neighbourhood Policing Chief Inspector Karen Corrigan issued a statement, saying: “I understand this will be a distressing and upsetting incident for the community and I would like to reassure members of the public that we are dedicated to carrying out a full and thorough investigation.“I would like to commend the work of the members of the public who provided immediate first aid to the victim before officers arrived and to the officers who continued to provide this first aid, alongside paramedics.” A police cordon is still active on Terrace Walk as investigations progress, and residents should anticipate an increased police presence in the area in the days ahead. Individuals who witnessed the event or possess pertinent doorbell, dashcam, or CCTV footage are encouraged to get in touch with the police. For updates, follow BBC Somerset on Facebook and X.
