A man has been charged with murder following the death of another man at a residential property, police have announced. Merseyside Police stated they were contacted after paramedics discovered a 73-year-old man deceased at a house on Braemar Avenue, Southport, on Sunday night. This incident occurred after a concern for welfare report was received shortly before midnight, the force indicated. Authorities have stated that a 52-year-old man has been formally charged with murder in relation to the death. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before Liverpool Magistrates Court on Boxing Day. Detective Chief Inspector Alan Nuttall commented: “Although a charge has been made, we continue to appeal for information to establish the full circumstances of what has taken place.” He added, “I would ask anyone that was in the vicinity of Braemar Avenue at that time who we haven’t already spoken to get in touch with us. “In addition, I also ask those with CCTV or dashcam footage to please check it to see if it may have captured something significant that will help with the investigation.” Det Ch Insp Nuttall also cautioned the public “not to speculate while the investigation is ongoing”.
