A 23-year-old man has appeared in court, facing accusations of murder in connection with the death of a young mother killed in a crash in Derbyshire. Alana Armstrong, 25, passed away at the scene on Batley Lane, Pleasley, after she was a passenger on an e-bike involved in a collision with a 4×4 vehicle on the evening of November 26. Police stated that the rider, identified in court as Jordan Newton-Kay, was transported to the hospital where one of his legs necessitated amputation below the knee. Keaton Muldoon, from Tuckers Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, attended Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday. He has been charged with the murder of Ms Armstrong, a mother-of-one, and the attempted murder of Mr Newton-Kay, who is in his 20s. Mr Muldoon was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before Derby Crown Court on Monday. Officers had previously indicated that Ms Armstrong was riding on the rear of one of two bikes on the narrow country lane when the incident occurred at approximately 20:00 GMT. Crimestoppers has offered a £20,000 reward for crucial information regarding her death. A woman in her 30s, from the Pleasley area, was arrested and subsequently released on bail, while a man and a woman previously apprehended in connection with the incident were later released without charge. On Friday, police issued an appeal for an individual who left a note, due to “poor parking,” on a Land Rover Discovery in Mansfield to come forward. Police reported that the note was placed on the vehicle, which was parked in the Jacksons Park area, overnight from November 26 into the following day.
