A man has appeared in court accused of fatally stabbing a 77-year-old individual in front of shoppers at a market in south London. Hilkiah McLeggan, from Southwark, south London, died at the scene after being assaulted on East Street, Walworth, on Sunday morning. Two additional men were transported to hospital with serious injuries, with one remaining in a critical condition. Musse Ali, 66, of no fixed address, appeared before Croydon Magistrates’ Court, where he was charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder. Mr Ali communicated solely to confirm his name and address, utilizing a Somalian interpreter. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the incident was not a terrorist attack and urged the public to refrain from speculating about any potential motive. Mr Ali was remanded in custody and is set to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday for a bail determination, and again on December 10 for a plea hearing.
