Formal charges have been brought against a man following an alleged sexual assault involving a 17-year-old girl in a park. Durham Police were dispatched to South Park in Darlington at approximately 16:45 GMT on Saturday. Police confirmed that a 42-year-old man from Darlington has been charged with attempted rape, sexual assault, and false imprisonment. He is scheduled to appear at Teesside Crown Court next month. The man previously appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was subsequently remanded into custody.
