Charges have been brought against an individual concerning the fatality of an 11-year-old boy, who was struck by a waste collection vehicle in Edinburgh earlier in the current year. Thomas Wong was cycling when he was involved in an impact with the vehicle on Whitehouse Road on 1 March. Although emergency personnel responded, Thomas was declared deceased at the location. According to Police Scotland, a 28-year-old man was apprehended and indicted for a road traffic violation. His court appearance is scheduled for a subsequent time. Thomas attended Cramond Primary School as a student and resided in Edinburgh. Following his passing, his family released a statement, saying: “Thomas was the perfect son. He was the best little brother to his older sister and was adored by all his family.” This marked the second occurrence in Scotland this year where a child lost their life after being struck by a waste collection vehicle.
