Law enforcement officials have confirmed the arrest of an individual on suspicion of murder following an alleged stabbing. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reported that officers responded to a disturbance on Whitburn Road in Wythenshawe around 20:00 GMT on Wednesday. Despite the diligent efforts of emergency personnel, GMP stated that James Murray, a 47-year-old local resident, succumbed to his injuries at the location. Investigators confirmed the detention of a 57-year-old man, who is currently being held in custody for interrogation. In a released statement, Mr. Murray’s family conveyed that they “appreciate the expressions of sympathy and support since we have discovered the sad news of [his] untimely death.” The family further requested: “We, at this time, ask for privacy as we deal with our grief and loss.” Det Ch Insp Lee commented: “We understand some residents may have concerns in relation to this incident, and I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the community that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat.”
