An individual has been taken into custody after a woman was hit by a lorry in Derbyshire. Law enforcement officers responded to Buxton Road in Ashbourne after a pedestrian was struck by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) at approximately 12:25 GMT on Wednesday. Police have stated that the victim, a woman in her 20s, remains hospitalized and is receiving treatment for serious injuries. The HGV driver, a man in his 40s, was apprehended on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop after an accident. He has since been released as the investigation continues. Authorities are appealing for witnesses and any CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist their inquiry.
