A man has been taken into custody on suspicion of drug driving after a cyclist sustained severe injuries in a traffic accident in York. North Yorkshire Police reported that the collision took place yesterday at approximately 17:40 BST on Monkgate, specifically at the Huntington roundabout. The incident involved a grey Hyundai vehicle and a cyclist, who was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. According to the police force, the driver, a man in his 50s, failed a roadside drug test. He was then arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by careless driving. Following this, he was formally charged with failing to provide a specimen and has been remanded in custody. Law enforcement officials have issued an appeal for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
