An individual has been apprehended on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after a car entered a river in West Sussex. Emergency services responded to reports of the vehicle being partially submerged in water near the Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham, with the call coming in around 01:00 GMT. The occupant successfully exited the vehicle without injury, as stated by the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service. A 44-year-old man, who resides in Henfield, has been taken into custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and causing a public nuisance. Sussex Police confirmed that he is currently being held. Fire crews successfully retrieved the vehicle from the River Adur and departed the location within an hour.
