A man has been taken into custody following the discovery and seizure of hundreds of cannabis plants within a vacant retail unit. Law enforcement officials located more than 200 plants at the premises situated on Middle Street, Yeovil, around 08:30 GMT. A 38-year-old male was arrested during the execution of a warrant by Avon and Somerset Police, in conjunction with Tarian, the regional organised crime unit serving southern Wales. Sgt Joshua Rutter, from the Yeovil Neighbourhood Policing Team, stated: “Drug cultivation and supply causes a huge amount of misery to communities.” He continued: “We will always seek to identify perpetrators and look to take proactive action to bring their criminality to an end.” Sgt Rutter further added: “We are always hugely grateful to members of the public who provide information relating to suspected illegal drug activity.” The individual was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a Class B drug. Police confirmed on Monday evening that he continues to be held in custody.
