An individual has been apprehended following a bomb hoax that resulted in widespread travel disruption during rush hour, according to police statements. Cheshire Constabulary announced that a 28-year-old man from Ellesmere Port was detained in Chester on Tuesday “on suspicion of communicating false information.” The force stated it is investigating suspicious activity that occurred on two buses in the city centre on Friday afternoon. One incident took place near the railway station, and the other close to the bus interchange. A police cordon was established around the railway station at approximately 18:00 GMT, and buses were prevented from operating from the nearby interchange. Rail services experienced disruptions for about four hours. Train operator Northern confirmed that the line had been “blocked” due to a security alert. Merseyrail and Avanti West Coast services originating from London Euston, as well as Transport for Wales services bound for Cardiff, Crewe, Manchester, and Wolverhampton, were all affected.
