A man has been found guilty of grievous bodily harm after acknowledging he shot a police officer with a crossbow from his home’s window. Jason King, 54, of School Close, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, entered guilty pleas to one count of GBH and affray at Aylesbury Crown Court on Thursday. At the same court on 20 September, King also admitted guilt to grievous bodily harm with intent for discharging a crossbow at PC Curtis Foster. He further pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon, specifically a crossbow, and possessing a bladed article during the same hearing. The court heard that around 18:00 BST on 10 May, King was involved in an altercation with a neighbor, a man in his 60s, whom he stabbed in the stomach. When unarmed officers arrived, King fired a crossbow at them from his window. He then exited his house before shooting PC Foster in the leg. Upon the arrival of armed police at the scene, they shot King in the stomach. He was transported to hospital under police supervision with injuries that were potentially life-changing, but he was discharged 10 days later and subsequently arrested. He was charged on 22 May. King was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at Aylesbury Crown Court for sentencing on 31 January 2025. Two additional charges, criminal damage and cultivation of cannabis, will remain on file. Since the incident, PC Foster has made a full recovery and has resumed his duties. The man in his 60s, who was stabbed in the stomach by King, received treatment for minor injuries at the hospital and was released the same day. Senior investigating officer Det Insp Nick Hind of the Major Crime Unit stated: “This was a serious incident, and thankfully, the victims in this case, including our officer, have made full recoveries.” The Independent Office for Police Conduct announced it was investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
