Former Wales striker Malcolm Allen has expressed his belief that Cardiff City ought to consider Steve Cooper for their vacant manager position. Cooper, previously manager of Swansea, was recently dismissed by Premier League club Leicester City, having been in the role for under five months. Cardiff City, known as the Bluebirds, are currently under the interim management of Omar Riza, who took over after Erol Bulut’s departure two months prior. Riza’s long-term position is uncertain. When questioned about Cooper on the Coridor Ansicrwydd podcast, Allen stated, “He’s got a point to prove.” Allen added, “He comes from the area, his family all live in the area.” Allen further commented, “He needs to find a club where he’s got more power than what he had at Leicester, and I think Cardiff would be perfect for him.” He also noted, “The only problem he has is that Leicester City will continue paying him until he finds another club.” Cooper managed Swansea City for two years, from 2019 to 2021, during which he guided the team to the Championship play-offs on two occasions. However, Owain Tudur Jones, a former Wales midfielder, suggests that Cooper’s previous tenure at Swansea would present an obstacle to him taking the helm at Cardiff. Jones remarked, “I can’t see Cooper going to Cardiff.” He continued, “After being manager of Swansea would you go to Cardiff? I don’t think so.” Post navigation Welsh Rugby Regions Achieve Most Successful URC Weekend in Over Three Years Chris Sutton’s Premier League Predictions: Brighton vs. Manchester City
