Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has stated he is “hopeful” that midfielder Liam Walsh will be available for inclusion in the matchday squad for their upcoming away fixture against Blackburn Rovers. Walsh, who has been absent from the Hatters’ last four league games due to a hamstring injury, has now resumed training. This development offers a positive boost for Luton, whose squad has been significantly affected by a series of injuries, with defenders Teden Mengi and Amari’i Bell, along with midfielder Shandon Baptiste, all expected to be out until the new year. However, Edwards has confirmed that the starting eleven which secured a 2-1 victory over Stoke City on Tuesday is anticipated to be available for selection again this weekend and will likely form his initial line-up. Edwards told BBC Radio Three Counties, “I’m not going to be picking the team on analysis and data or looking at what could happen. We’ve got to go off, ‘these are the lads that are fit’ and the majority of them will go again. That’s the norm in any league.” The recent win against Stoke marked Luton’s first victory in four league matches, a result that has helped them climb to 15th place in the table, establishing a five-point lead over the relegation zone. Their next match is scheduled for Saturday (15:00 GMT) against fifth-place Rovers.
