Luke Williams has affirmed his commitment to “always support” Alan Sheehan, Swansea City’s assistant head coach, should Sheehan be presented with an opportunity to take on a managerial role. Sheehan, who previously coached at Luton Town and Southampton, became part of Swansea’s coaching staff in the summer of 2023 and served as caretaker manager last season following the dismissal of Michael Duff. Sheehan has been identified as a potential candidate for the managerial position at Coventry City, although Frank Lampard continues to be considered the strong favourite to succeed Mark Robins. Williams stated that he has not discussed the speculation regarding Coventry with Sheehan, explaining that it “didn’t get to the stage where I felt the need or he felt the need”. Nevertheless, the Swansea head coach indicated that he is not surprised by the Irishman’s association with other job opportunities. Williams commented, “When he did his pro licence, he was the shining light, the example on that course. So of course there are going to be many people who took notice of that, and he had a spell here where he made a really positive impact. He continues to do a brilliant job for us and I hope that continues for a long time to come. But of course if something is a brilliant opportunity for him and his family, then I would always support him in that and he would leave here having done a fantastic job.” Post navigation Sarah Taylor Appointed Wicketkeeping Coach for England Lions Tour Larne Manager Tiernan Lynch Calls for Unity After Recent Defeats
